Winning the league is Celtic’s main priority, says Griffiths

Celtic are prioritising the league over any other competition.

Speaking in a press conference, Celtic striker Griffiths has admitted that the club are prioritising the Scottish Premiership over all other competitions, although they know the Champions League is important.

LG: “The league is our main priority but the #UCL is also a big thing for us and we have two difficult games coming up against Malmo." (MH)

The Bhoys have two games left to reach the Champions League group stages, and considering the gap in quality between them and Europe’s biggest teams, they will be aware than winning the competition is far from their ambitions.

The benefit of getting into Europe is the financial windfall that Celtic get, as well as the chance to keep ahold of their best players with the knowledge they can offer Champions League football.

Other than that, the chance of silverware is minimal, and focusing upon the league seems to be the best option. The Bhoys are chasing their fifth title in a row during the 2015/16 campaign, and although they are favourites to win the league, they will have to focus should they intend to clinch the title.

Other successes will obviously be fought for, with the League Cup and the Scottish FA Cup well within their grasps, but with Griffiths admitting focus is on the league title, it would be no surprise to see Celtic secure their fifth Scottish Premiership win in a row come the end of the campaign.
